What does a Life Coach do?

Maybe you’ve never heard of a life coach before, or maybe you have but never really knew what one does. Life coaches help people who feel like they’re stuck or “in a rut.” Life coaching is not therapy. I do have my master’s degree in Counseling Psychology, but this is not a therapy session. When we meet, it will be to help you figure out what you’d like your life to look like and how to make it happen. For about 6 months, we’ll meet every 2 weeks with an email check-in on the off weeks. I give you writing and other assignments at the end of each session to help you figure out what you really want to achieve. Then I’ll help you detail, step by step, what you need to do to reach your goals.

Sometimes I partner with your doctor to help you meet your health goals, which means we’re in open communication about where you need to be–your doctor will help make your goals realistic so you don’t set yourself up for failure.

It’s very important that you understand that goals take time. Whether you want to be out of debt by a certain date, lose fifty pounds, or just feel better, it all takes time, effort and determination. If you tend to fall off the wagon and need someone to keep you accountable, I’m here for you. I will talk to you openly both about what’s holding you back and what’s driving you forward, and we’ll celebrate all of your milestones along the way.

Balance is key: balancing work, play and rest.
